Streaming Service to Remove Popular Feature, Subscribers Upset

Netflix announces a sudden change which will be effective very soon and which will anger some of its subscribers. Films and series can no longer be consumed as before.

Clearly, Netflix doesn't like to spend a lot of time without making changes. And often, it is not really for the good of its customers, as evidenced by the price increases and the introduction of advertisements on the platform. This time, the service aims to rethink one of its applications, which will have serious consequences for certain users. The way of watching programs without the constraint of a connection will soon no longer be possible.

Netflix limits the way you consume films and series

Netflix is warning its subscribers of a major change coming soon. When launching the Windows application to watch a film or series, the WindowsLatest site received a message indicating that it was going to be replaced… and that downloads would no longer be available. In other words, in some time you will no longer be able to download movies, series, documentaries or shows to watch them offline. You will have no other choice than to have an internet connection to take full advantage of it. In the support section of the web portal, the firm with the red N has detailed this information.

A new Netflix app for Windows will be available soon. It will support live events, support ad-supported offerings and more. Downloads will no longer be supported, but you will still be able to watch shows and movies offline on a supported mobile device. Enable automatic app updates in the Microsoft Store to enjoy this new experience as soon as it becomes available.

But WindowsLatest has obtained additional details. The new Netflix application, which will no longer allow you to watch programs offline, will be available in June 2024. On the other hand, it would perhaps not be a classic application, but rather an interface similar to that available on any browser internet by going to Netflix.com. It's not yet very clear, but the platform should present this new feature soon. The only solution to continue using this functionality is to turn to mobile devices such as an Android smartphone or tablet, an iPhone or iPad, an Amazon Fire tablet or a Chromebook.
