Steve Jobs married Lauren Powell



March 18, 1991. Married in 1991, Steve Jobs and Lauren Powell-Jobs remained married for the rest of his life. March 18 in Apple history: Steve Jobs marries a young 27-year-old graduate student at Stanford Business School, Lauren Powell.

Jobs met Powell in October 1989, shortly after the debut of NeXT Computer. He was giving a lecture at Stanford Business School, and Lauren was late for her start and had to sit in the front row.

According to her, she did not even know who he was, and confused with the founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates. Some argued that she was cunning, claiming this, but, in any case, Jobs asked her on a date, and they began to meet. Jobs proposed marriage on the first day of 1990 and she agreed, but the engagement ring was not purchased until October 1990.

Steve Jobs is finally getting married

The ceremony took place on March 18, 1991 and was attended by about 50 people, including Jobs’s adoptive father and sister Mona Simpson. The ceremony was conducted by the Zen Buddhist monk Kobuna Chino Otogawa, who struck the gong and lit the incense, confusing many of the guests.

After the ceremony, guests were treated to a vegan wedding cake in the shape of Half Dome rock from Yosemite Valley. At the time of the wedding, Powell was pregnant with their eldest child, Reid. The couple then had two more children, Erin Sienna and Eva.

Jobs and Powell remained married until he died at the age of 56 in late 2011.
