Stellar Blade: Petition launched against censorship in the game

In Stellar Blade you can squeeze the main character Eve into all sorts of revealing outfits. However, the Shift Up development team seems to have toned down some issues with the day one patch. This angered some users so much that they even started a petition. Whoever needs it.

With Stellar Blade, the Korean studio Shift Up delivered a pretty big action highlight last week. However, the outfits of the main character Eve cause some frowns in the community, because the android lady is often extremely revealing. Some people think it's at least worth mentioning, others don't care or are even happy about it.

Now a small shitstorm is forming around the clothes, but not on the part of the critics. Instead, some users accuse the title of censorship. At the spearhead of this movement is Mark Kern, a former Blizzard employee who wanted to make quick money with shady projects after his time at the traditional company.

Apparently that's not going well and now he has enough time and started a petition on Change.org. Its title is “Free Stellar Blade” and it's not about the title not being released in some countries or anything like that. Instead, it's about supposedly defused outfits.

According to Kern and his followers, Shift Up had some of Eve's costumes defused – or censored, as they call it – as part of the day one patch. These accusations are supported by some screenshots that show: In fact, the team added a few more scraps of material in some very revealing places.

Stellar Blade is far from being prudish, there are still plenty of panties and sideboobs. But that's probably not enough for Kern, in his petition he states: “Stellar Blade was like a breath of fresh air and gamers got behind the game because it meant things were changing, getting better and the sound of creative freedom was loud and clear “But for unknown reasons the game was censored and changes were made. What we received after our bona fide purchases was not the same as advertised.”

You might find it silly now, but Kern finds plenty of support. At the time of writing, the petition has almost 55,000 signatures. So we'll be curious to see whether and how Shift Up reacts.
