Stellar Blade: Gold status and day one patch confirmed

Players apparently no longer have to fear a short-term and surprising postponement of “Stellar Blade”: the development of the basic version has been completed. Final changes are made in a day-one patch.

With “Stellar Blade”, the next exclusive game will land on the PS5 in a few weeks. The title was announced five years ago. And so shortly before the desired launch, nothing seems to stand in the way of the market launch: the development of the basic version has been completed, which goes hand in hand with gold status.

The reference to the completion of “Stellar Blade” is made on the Japanese PlayStation Blog (via PSU), in which the interview conducted with game director Kim Hyung Tae includes additional sections that do not appear in the western versions.

Stellar Blade is “finally finished”

“It's been five years since Stellar Blade was announced. But now we have finally finished it. I think there are only a few action/adventure games developed in Korea for home consoles,” said Kim Hyung Tae.

Various measures have been taken to make the game more accessible. And appealing characters and different worldviews were also taken into account.

The completion of the shippable version of “Stellar Blade” is no surprise given the impending release. The game is not really final, so buyers go to the launch received a day one patch. This update will also include improvements that are not yet part of the early released demo.

Update: The gold status of “Stellar Blade” is now also being celebrated on the title’s Twitter channel. The team can also be seen there:

Graphics modes and DualSense support

During the interview, Kim Hyung Tae once again discussed the various performance/graphics modes, resolutions and frame rates of “Stellar Blade”.

The game has three modes:

  • Performance mode
  • Balance mode
  • Resolution mode

Performance mode supports a resolution of 1,440p and a frame rate of 60 frames per second. And even in balanced mode with upscaled 4K resolution, frame rates of 50 FPS to 60 FPS can be achieved. The high-resolution mode, on the other hand, relies on a 4K resolution and a frame rate of 30 frames per second.

“Stellar Blade” should also benefit from the DualSense and its features. The adaptive triggers and haptic feedback were used as elements to achieve a greater feeling of immersion and presence.

“In certain places you can feel the mood and atmosphere around you through haptic feedback,” adds technical director Lee Dong Gi. At the beginning of “Stellar Blade” there is a scene with a drone in which players can “take full advantage of the PS5 features”.

Ultimately, several stages with different adaptive trigger resistances were built into the controller function, which are assigned to the type of weapon used. Further details can be found on the PlayStation Blog published interview.
