Number 1 in Germany – things aren’t going so well in the rest of the world.
Ubisoft has done it! Anno 117: Pax Romana (test) is current #1 Steam bestseller – at least in Germany (source: Steam). And I can understand it: I, too, have already spent 60 euros in advance to pre-order the long-running strategy favorite.
Anno 117 is the Germans’ Steam favorite
While the strategy game can claim the crown in this country, it looks internationally less good. There it is currently only enough for 9th place – and that two days before the release (source: Steam). This means Anno is still ahead of Call of Duty Black Ops 7, but has to admit defeat to other games like Dispatch, Battlefield 6 (test) or Arc Raiders.
It is not surprising that Anno for the PC is attracting greater interest in this country: strategy and simulation games have been doing well in Germany for ages. After all, games like the farming simulator also land at the top of the Amazon bestseller list for PC games year after year.
I don’t trust Ubisoft with anything anymore – but I’ll make an exception for Anno!
Actually, when it comes to Ubisoft games, I always wait until they’re on sale before I buy them. The price drops quickly and since the publisher usually doesn’t reinvent the wheel with their games, I never feel the need to play them when they’re released.
However, I make an exception for Anno 117: Pax Romana. A few weeks ago I pre-ordered the Tribun Edition on Amazon and am looking forward like a little child to holding the strategy colossus in my hands in a few days and finally being able to start playing. My colleague Martin’s test dispelled the very last doubts.
