When will the Steam Machine be released now?

Valve comments again on the release date of the Steam Machine. The update in a Steam blog post again sounds like really bad news for waiting PC players. The cube PC, along with the Steam Frame and the new Steam Controller, should appear sometime this year.

Valve’s update to the Steam Machine sounds like another postponement

During the unveiling, Valve was still talking about spring 2026. Later it was only the first half of the year. Extending the release to the whole year could be another postponement.

Valve initially wrote in the blog post that they “hope” to bring the hardware to market in 2026. Opposite The Verge However, the company made it clear that “nothing has actually changed for us”. At the same time, Valve has adjusted the wording in the blog post and promises a release this year. In the German version, however, there is still talk of hope (view on Steam).

Steam Machine will be released in 2026

The release of the Steam Machine seems to be slipping further and further back, although according to Valve nothing officially changes. In the first blog post, the company writes: “Our goal is still to bring the devices onto the market in the first half of the year” (view on Steam).

The difference between spring and the first half of the year is still small, but it’s already March and it doesn’t look like the Steam Machine will be released in the next few weeks.

Now Valve is suddenly talking about the entire year 2026 and no longer about the first half of the year. Once again, however, “nothing has actually changed”.

Martin Hartmann (own opinion):

Nothing changes, but everything changes?

It’s not Valve’s fault that memory prices are skyrocketing around the world. I don’t envy them for wanting to release a gaming PC now, and I’m sure they themselves don’t know exactly when the Steam Machine will be released.

Nevertheless, I would like Valve to simply speak plainly and prepare PC gamers for a late release date. Instead, all we get is vague talk about plans supposedly being maintained. We just don’t get the Steam Machine.

Maybe the Steam Machine really will be released in the first half of 2026 and Valve has simply expressed itself unhappily in the blog. I don’t believe it though.
