On the one hand, these revolved around the future of the “Fallout” series. We have Howard's most important statements on this topic here summarized for you. In addition to “Fallout,” the science fiction role-playing game “Starfield” was brought up during the conversation. Here, Howard discussed, among other things, the release period of the expansion called “Shattered Space”.

Bethesda Softworks' game director didn't give a specific date, but confirmed that “Shattered Space” is scheduled for release this fall.

Comprehensive update delivers improvements

The next big update for “Starfield” will be released much earlier, with which the developers at Bethesda Game Studios want to make improvements in various areas.

According to Howard, the update in question will be announced later this week. As was the case with recent updates, the patch will initially be released in the Steam Beta program. The regular release for the PC and Xbox Series X/S usually takes place a few weeks later.

With the next update, a long-requested feature will be added to “Starfield”. We're talking about the maps for the cities, which are intended to provide a better overview. The developers are also making improvements to the ship editor.

Other than the fact that there's “some great stuff for shipbuilding” coming in the next update, Howard didn't go into further detail. However, further information is likely to follow with the announcement this week.

More display modes for the consoles?

One of the biggest criticisms from the community was the fact that “Starfield” only ran at 30FPS on the Xbox Series X/S. As Howard hinted, additional display modes for Xbox consoles could find their way into the game with the next few updates. “Look, there are areas like the maps and other things… gameplay options that we're adding,” Howard continued.

“Other display modes on consoles that people have been asking for. We want to do all of these things. It will take some time, but we look forward to getting these things out there.”

In June 2023, Howard pointed out that “Starfield” on the Xbox Series X / S could be displayed at more than 30FPS in many areas. However, the developers decided at the time to “prefer a consistent gaming experience” on the consoles. For this reason, 30FPS was chosen.

“Starfield” was released in September 2023 for the PC and Xbox Series X/S.
