Marvel’s Avengers, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Kingdom Hearts 3: Square Enix reserved 1,500 of the 1,850 square meters of stand space at Gamescom 2019 for game stations.After the pandemic break in 2020 and 2021, the Japanese video game manufacturer limited itself to a fan article stand in the merchandise area.
For Gamescom 2023 (starts on August 23), Square Enix is changing the concept again and is cooperating with, among other things, unspecified companies “First party company, um to make a selection of our upcoming titles accessible to visitors”as stated on request.
“First Party” should primarily mean Nintendo and/or Microsoft Xbox, because Sony PlayStation will not be running its own booth on the Gamescom site.However, it cannot be ruled out that there will be announcements of PlayStation innovations as part of the opening show Gamescom: Opening Night Live, as in the previous year.

Which games will be shown on which platform is still a secret. After the release of the PS5 action RPG Final Fantasy 16 In June, the following Square Enix titles are currently planned by the end of the year:
- Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest – The Adventure of Dai (Releases September 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch)
- Star Ocean: The Second Story R (Releases November 2nd for PC, PS4, PS5 and Switch)
- Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince (coming December 1st for Switch)
All other titles – included Final Fantasy VII Rebirth – are much further away.
Aside from the Entertainment Area, Square Enix also welcomes trade visitors and media representatives – in the Business Area (Hall 4.2 / Stand B041-D050).A dedicated merchandise stand is not planned this year.
