Sony has to rank behind Microsoft in April

The latest charts from the PlayStation Store are here. They are based on sales last April and feature a new entrant at the top flying the pirate flags.

“Sea of Thieves” released for PS5 at the end of April 2024 (PLAY3.DE test) was able to take over the top spot in the PS5 charts in the launch month. This makes a Microsoft game the most successful title on Sony's console. We will experience this situation more often, because the next “Call of Duty” is already in the starting blocks.

It should be noted that the passage of “Sea of Thieves” to the top of the PSN charts only applies to the European rankings. In the USA and Canada it was “only” enough for third place.

Second place in Europe went to “GTA 5”, which is therefore ahead “Helldivers 2” could set. “Stellar Blade” remained in fourth place in the month of its release. Here too, there are deviations in the USA and Canada, as the following overview reveals. You can see the complete top 20 on the PlayStation Blog see.

While “Sea of Thieves” dominated the European PS5 charts, Microsoft is also at the top of the PS4 charts. “Fallout 4” landed in Europe as well as in the USA and Canada thanks to series hype and Next-gen update on the first place. That wasn't all: “Minecraft” and “Fallout 76” are also at the forefront.

PlayStation VR2 and free-to-play

Things have been rather quiet around PlayStation VR2 in the last few months. But which games are very popular with headset owners? Players in Europe, Canada and the USA almost agree on this. There are hardly any deviations in the first places, with “Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge – Enhanced Edition” dominating across the board.
