His nose guides you first out of Diamond City to a pond south of the cityNow you need more traces of Kellog to encourage Dogmeat to pursue you again. Search the area for a San Francisco Sunlight cigar and shows it to Dogmeat – then the journey continues along the tracks.

A short time later, Dogmeat stops at an underpass. On the floor you find traces of blood that seem to belong to Kellog: Let the dog smell it to continue the search. Then we continue over a bridge. Here you will find the wreckage of an Assaultron, which you can also interact with to obtain further clues. The further path follows through the forest, where you may come across one Deathclaw you may come across, so be careful.

Eventually you will arrive at Fort Hagen. There you will find further clues as to Kellog's whereabouts, namely blood-stained wound dressings. Next you have to get to Fort Hagen, but since the door is locked, it doesn't look easy at first.

Here you have two options:

Look for a trapdoor on the roof or enter the parking garage – there is also a door there that leads you in.

Inside the fort lurks many dangers, from turrets to synths. Stop by the kitchen for one Energy weapon bobblehead to collect. Go further and further into the building until at some point a voice from above – Kellog's – warns you to turn back and leave him alone. Of course you won't do that.

Are you an avid collector? Then follow our guide to the bobbleheads to locate all the widely scattered figures:

Keep going until you eventually reach a locked office door. Fortunately, Kellog is willing to talk and will open the door to telling you the whole truth at your leisure. It turns out that Shaun was kidnapped from the Institute. Unfortunately, you cannot come to an agreement with Kellog, so a shootout breaks out and you end up eliminating him and his bodyguards.

The fight against Kellog

After the fight you can examine the terminal and thus reaches the location of Shaun. He also has a Brain implant which you should definitely take with you. Also Kellog's trusty pistol You can grab it before you go back out through the security door. Hopefully you still have enough inventory left, otherwise you'll have to look into expanding it.

As soon as you are outside, a short sequence begins in which you are confronted with the Brotherhood of Steel, one of the four factions in Fallout 4, and their arrival in the country. The quest “Wake-up call” off, assuming you have not met the Brotherhood before. If you already know the Brotherhood, then the quest begins now “Steel Shadows”.

After the sequence you leave back to the Valentine Detective Agency and you can finish the quest in a final conversation with Nick and Piper.
