Yesterday Microsoft released an update for the Snipping Tool (11.2404.37.0) and Paint (11.2404.42.0) for insiders in the Dev and Canary channels. The most important changes are made to the Snipping Tool (cutting and sketching).

The fact that you can extract text from a screenshot using the snipping tool is not new. What is new, however, is that the snipping tool can now also read a QR code. Another new feature is that the Shapes menu now also contains emojis that can be inserted into the image.
A name change has been made in Paint. After the update, Cocreator becomes Image Creator. Otherwise everything stays the same here. So you can write a text as you imagine an image and then several images will be created, which you then want to select and perhaps edit further.
It certainly shouldn't be long before these updates appear in Windows 11 Retail. While the manual installation of Paint worked for me, the new functions did not appear with the Snipping Tool. For those who should be curious:
- store.rg-adguard call, change to Id, and finally change to Fast
- Snipping Tool 9mz95kl8mr0l
- Paint: 9pcfs5b6t72h
[Update 17.05.2024]: Visual search with Bing has been added to the Snipping Tool
Another update was added to the post last night. In Snipping Tool 11.2404.39.0, Microsoft added visual search. So you can “Use Bing to quickly find similar images and objects in your screenshot. You can try this out by right-clicking on a screenshot and selecting “Visual Search with Bing.” This action is also available in the “See more” menu on the toolbar.”
