With the ears free
If you think that all the headsets that sit in or on the ears are uncomfortable, or want your ears completely free so you hear the surroundings, Shokz's leg -leading headset is an alternative.
Bone line means creating sound by sending vibrations in the skull bone which is then propagated to the eardrum and sound is perceived. It is used, among other things, by divers for communication when ordinary headsets are impractical. Shokz instead uses bone management technology for sports headphones. It has two potential advantages. On the one hand, it is more comfortable, at least if you rather have a bow behind your ear than something that sits over or in your ear and presses. On the one hand, your hearing is completely unobstructed that you have the headset on you. If you sit in an office or work out at the gym, you might want to have a quiet bubble around you, but if you are out on a running round, for example, you want to hear about a bike rings or someone shouts.
Shokz Openrun Pro consists of a bow you have behind your neck and two hooks over your ears. The speakers themselves sit just in front of the ears while the battery and buttons are behind. There is absolutely no risk that you will lose the headset during use. The worst thing that can happen is that it comes a little out of position. An unnecessarily large case comes along, more like the case for a pair of on-earlurar than the case for a true wireless headset. The liors are sold in two sizes with different long bow and can well be seen as men's and women's size on a hip.
For starters, I am impressed with the sound in the headset. Sure, there will be less bass and more treble than in a headset that sits in the ear with rubber pups, but that applies, for example, Airpods too, and this is still bone line?
Not just legs
But is it really bone line? I find it difficult to get the headset to actually sit directly against the skin. Sometimes it comes in between and if I lean my head against something, the bow is pressed out of position and the strange thing is that it does not seem to play such a big role. I try to lift the bow so that it does not have skin contact and think it sounds about as good.
Shokz calls Openrun Pro 2 for bone-leading with Dualpitch technology. This means that there are also speakers that direct sound into the ears in addition to the bone vibrations themselves. Certainly good for getting a full register on the sound, but with the disadvantage that it sounds pretty much about the headset. You cannot sit in a quiet office landscape with it without disturbing the surroundings.
I keep experimenting. If I put my fingers in my ears I still hear the music, but a little more dull, and if I at the same time lift the arches, the sound disappears, so there is after all an element of bone line in the sound. I also try to press the headset while I have my finger in the ear and then the sound from the leg line becomes much clearer. This indicates that the headset does not actually sit very well on me and that I would have a greater effect from the leg line if the headset came to the cheek knots better.

It may not matter how the sound is created, but as it is now, I often need to turn up the volume to close to max, and of course the sound leak to the surroundings also becomes larger.
The sound during phone calls is jarring, both for me and the one I talk to, but the headset is reasonably good at handling disturbing noise in the background.

The battery life on a charge is perfectly okay, and the headset has a USB connector used to charge it. Can you imagine a headset that is more awkward than a regular True Wireless to avoid having something sitting in the ears solves Shokz Openrun Pro task but don't expect miracles of bone management technology.
