Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12 Plus officially launched

With Samsung’s best tablets to date, you get bright OLED screens, you get Galaxy AI and it comes with the S-pen, stylus for writing and drawing on the screen included in the purchase. So far it is similar to its predecessors.

If we compare it to its predecessors, it is fundamentally very similar. The Ultra model, for example, has exactly the same dimensions as the predecessor Tab S11 Ultra that came a year ago. However, the Galaxy Tab S12 series consists of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12 Plus, instead of last time when we only got the base model and the Ultra. The Ultra model has a screen of 14.6 inches and the Plus model has a screen of 12.6 inches. Both have OLED screens with a 120 hertz refresh rate and come with the latest Android 17. As with flagship-class phones, Samsung promises the tablets seven years of Android updates and seven years of security updates.

We have mentioned that the tablets come with the S-pen included in the packaging at no extra cost, and this time Samsung is trying to give you more benefit from that. They do this by pre-installing Adobe Photoshop from the start and with the S-pen you should then be able to more easily use the functions, such as managing layers, brushes and other Photoshop-specific things directly via the button on the S-pen. The full features of Photoshop are included for four months, but after that you are required to pay. Other programs are also pre-installed, such as Notability, Goodnotes, Notion and Clip Studio Paint, all with some kind of trial period or discount on the price.

Just like the predecessors in the Tab S10 and S11 series, the plates are powered by system chips from Mediatek, so neither Exynos nor Snapdragon as we are otherwise usually used to. This time both boards are about the Mediatek Dimensity 9500 and it should give around 20 percent better performance, but specifically around 60 percent improved NPU performance, important for local AI calculations. All this compared to the S11 Ultra.

Both plates are available in Sweden from October 7, when the Ultra costs from 17,490 to 22,490 and the Plus model from 14,490 to 17,990 depending on storage and if you want a wifi model or even 5G option.
