Developer Prophecy Games have launched its much anticipated roguelite FPS Deadzone: Rogue onto Steam, and it offers up a shooting experience like no other.
A sci-fi themed blaster, it’s fast paced and frenetic – yet still offers more than enough depth for those willing to look for it.
The plot sees you wake up aboard the ISS-X, with no memories of who you are or how you got there. There’s not much time to jog your memory though, as a slew of rogue machines are closing in on your location. And fast.
So naturally you must shoot your way to safety, nabbing rare gear and upgrading your weaponry as you go.
Roguelite Perfection

As with any good roguelite there’s a great sense of progression in Deadzone: Rogue, with each death giving you the chance to improve your arsenal.
And what an arsenal there is to pick from, with over 30 weapons available – each modifiable with a range of elemental affixes and upgrades. A basic shotgun can become a void spreading chaos creator – you’ll want to keep playing just to see what each gun can become.
What makes things even better is the combat though, which isn’t just cookie-cutter and dull. Instead every battle feels tense and a real battle.
This in part is down to the varied cast of foes, with each rogue machine having different attack patterns. Every time multiple types are thrown together you have to find a new way to survive – and it’s always fun.
Range of Modes and Settings

There are solo and co-op modes to play through the adventure too, with up to three players supported in the latter. The early access build has two chapters to work your way through, with more promised in the near future as well – so there’s no better time to get on board.
Deadzone: Rogue is out right now on Steam and Epic Games, and there’s an official Discord channel for the game too.
