Remaster of Days Gone planned?

Sony is hosting the next week a State of Playif we can believe the ongoing rumors. After the initially unconfirmed PS5 Pro information proves to be accuratethere might actually be one or two surprises in a few actions.

One of the games planned for the show should be “Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered”This week, an entry appeared in the ESRB's review catalog promising a pimped-up PS5 version of the title originally released for the PS4. However, there has long been talk of a second remaster.

How will John Garvin react?

After the speculation about “Horizon Zero Dawn” is now “Days Gone” has come into focus. As journalist Jordan Middler rather vaguely suggests, Sony could be working on a new edition of the open-world title released in 2019. “Days Gone”, developed by Bend Studio, would thus be a candidate for the State of Playshould it actually take place.

The rumors about a second remaster were first thrown into the air by Jeff Grubb. He hinted that, in addition to “Horizon Zero Dawn,” another PS5 remaster is in the works. However, it is “even less exciting” than the title leaked by the ESRB.

Jordan Middler took up this claim on X – formerly Twitter – and referred to “Days Gone” creative director John Garvin, who had already expressed his displeasure about a cameo appearance by protagonist Deacon St. John in “Astro Bot.”

“I don’t know Astro Bot and wish them all the best. But not at the expense of Days Gone,” said John Garvin in SeptemberEven the Bend studio apparently felt compelled to to respond to the comment.

This topic was used by the VGC journalist Jordan Middler mentioned above to make his suggestion: “If he was angry that his character was in Astro Bot, he's going to freak out about it,” was the reaction to a tweet reporting on the alleged second and “even less exciting” remaster.

“Days Gone” was originally released for the PlayStation 4 in 2019 and later ported to PCWith over 7.3 million copies sold, it's expected to be a commercial success. However, Sony declined to make a sequel to the game, leading to speculation as to why the company might now be considering a remaster.

However, a remaster would bring new attention to the title on the PS5, where it already runs at 60 frames per second. A possible PS5 Pro support would be a completely different caliber. And perhaps even from the trilogy something.

Bend Studio and the future of Days Gone

While Sony did not give the green light to the development of “Days Gone 2”, Bend Studio is not idle. The developer is working currently working on a new projectwhich is based on some of the technologies from “Days Gone”.

However, it is not a direct sequel to the biker adventure, but takes a completely new direction. In the meantime, plans for a film adaptation of “Days Gone” have also been announced:

An official statement from Sony on the rumors about the remaster is still pending. If it does actually appear, “Days Gone” could be the next PlayStation game, alongside “Horizon Zero Dawn,” to remake the current Gap in games from the biggest AAA franchises closes.

What do you think about a “Days Gone Remastered”? After more than five years, is the time ripe for a remaster?
