Quickly enjoy NBA 2K24 in Xbox Game Pass, it won't stay there long | Xbox

If you regularly follow the news on Xboxygen, you will not have missed that NBA 2K24 has recently been available in Xbox Game Pass. But we advise you to take advantage of it as soon as you can since the title will not stay in Microsoft's service for long.

NBA 2K24 will only stay on Xbox Game Pass for a few months

The availability of NBA 2K24 in Xbox Game Pass will be short. At least that's what 2K Games indicates in a recent newsletter which mentions that the game will only be “available to Game Pass members until August 31, 2024”, or approximately six months.

It is usually quite difficult to know the withdrawal date of a game released in Game Pass and the information generally circulates when Microsoft announces the withdrawn games around 15 days before it is effective. To find out the list of games withdrawn every month, we invite you to regularly consult Xboxygen, a dedicated article is published approximately twice a month.

2K Games doesn't leave its games in Xbox Game Pass for long

Knowing that NBA 2K24 will only stay in Xbox Game Pass for six months isn't really a surprise since we've been closely following Game Pass activity in recent years.

Thanks to our statistical assessment of Game Pass 2023, we can confirm that on average, a game remains in Game Pass for 561 days, or 18 months. The median is 408 days, which means that in volume, half of the games removed in 2023 remained shorter than that.

2K Games is a publisher that has a habit of not leaving its games on the service for very long. Also in our Game Pass statistics, we noted that Sid Meier's Civilization 6 was the game most quickly removed from the service in 2023 with a 6-month contract. The previous year, it was already a 2K game which occupied the same place since NBA 2K22 had only remained in Game Pass for four months.

The boss of Take-Two, parent company of 2K, has already spoken about Xbox Game Pass and declared that a subscription model did not really make sense for new games, but rather for titles already out.

Since the publisher regularly adds games to Game Pass, everything suggests that it is profitable for it. The limited availability of 2K games in the service is certainly the result of a strategy aimed at re-hyping a released game to generate interest and drive players to checkout when it is removed just a few months later.
