Xbox community revolts over PS5 rumors

The fact that Xbox-exclusive games may be coming to Sony's competing platform is met with outrage by many Xbox gamers. In response to the rumors, Xbox boss Phil Spencer only referred to a business update next week – a denial looks different. Numerous fans then responded expressed their frustration primarily on Twitter, but also on Reddit and YouTube.

Among the Xbox influencers who extremely disappointed with the possible turnaround in Microsoft's exclusive strategy, including Twitter users and Xbox insiders Klobrille and Timdog, who together have over 200,000 Twitter followers. (Source: VGC)

Xbox players fear the end of the Microsoft console

The mood in the Xbox community currently seems almost apocalyptic in parts and the wait until the official update from Spencer is unlikely to smooth things over. Many comments on Twitter are not only annoyed that games like Starfield could end up on the PS5 – after all, the lukewarm sci-fi RPG hasn't uprooted any trees in the industry so far. Many fear instead, the devaluation of the Xbox consoles as an independent platform and a subsequent withdrawal by Microsoft from the gaming hardware business.

“I've always had an Xbox since the original release in 2001, but if the news is true, I just don't see the point in having an Xbox anymore. I can then just get a PS5 and wait for the Microsoft games.” (Twitter user rcr_92)

Curiously, the community chaos follows an absolute record quarter for Xbox – even if it came at a high price:
