As we learned today, one of the upcoming games for PlayStation Plus Essential is a new release. It's called “Death Note Killer Within” and comes from Bandai Namco.
The release will take place on November 5th – the same day that the Essential games are unlocked. On this date you can find out for yourself whether it is a recommended game.
According to the official description, it is “the first online social deduction game” based on the manga series “Death Note”.
The player can take on one of four different roles:
- Kira
- Kira pendant
- L
- Investigator
Each role offers a variable playthrough in which numerous strategies can be pursued in randomly generated scenarios. You can also customize the gaming experience with individual name tags, avatars and special effects for events.
The gameplay of Death Note Killer Within
The two groups “Team Kira” and “Team L” compete against each other. The goal is to decipher the identities of others and hide your own. You either have to turn off L or get the Death Note from Kira.
In the first main phase, players must collect clues and complete various tasks. Phase number two is again intended to consult and try to arrest Kira.
If L is eliminated, Team Kira wins. If Kira is arrested, victory goes to Team L. Alternatively, there are several objectives that allow the player to increase the team's progress bar. Whoever fills up the meter first wins.
Thanks to crossplay support, up to ten players from different platforms can compete against each other. Voice chat is of course also supported so that you can communicate with your colleagues.
“Death Note Killer Within” will also be released for the PC (via Steam) in addition to the PS5 and PS4. However, anyone who plays on the latter platform or does not have a PS Plus membership will be asked to pay.
