The dates for all three levels, including Extra and Premium, can be predicted because Sony sticks to a fixed pattern. Below are the days and times for announcements and activations PS Plus Essential, Extra and Premium in the overview.
PS Plus Essential in May 2024
We start tomorrow with the elementary level. So we will probably know from 5:30 p.m. which games will end up in the PS Plus Essential library the following Tuesday. There have been no leaks so far, so there could be one or two surprises tomorrow.
- Essential Announcement: May 1, 2024 at 5:30 p.m
- Essential activation: May 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m
How does this assumption come about? With only a few exceptions in the past, Sony relies on a fixed rhythm: PS Plus games of the Essential level are activated on the first Tuesday of a new month and announced on the Wednesday of the previous week.
With the activation of the new games from PS Plus Essential, the April games will also be eliminated. So you still have a week to grab the following games. Once they remain in the personal PSN library, it is possible to use them permanently.

After the two weeks reserved for Essential, the PS Plus levels Extra and Premium continue in May. Here, Sony is relying on a comparable rhythm, which is only postponed by two weeks. Based on this, the following dates arise.
- Extra/Premium Announcement: May 15, 2024 at 5:30 p.m
- Extra/Premium activation: May 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m
It is not uncommon for higher level games to be available before 11 a.m. on the activation day. We will remind you of this in a separate article in good time.
The following applies to PS Plus Extra and Premium: With the new addition, games are being removed from the library that, unlike Essential, cannot be used permanently by simply using them. The important thing here is to finish it on time or purchase the full version.
