After CD Projekt in February announcedthat “Project Orion”, the successor to “Cyberpunk 2077”, started active development, CD Projekt pointed out on the occasion of the new business figures that the project is still in the concept phase. 47 developers are currently working on “Project Orion”.

A smaller team of 17 people continues to work on “Cyberpunk 2077” and the latest updates to the role-playing game released in 2020. However, it is assumed that this team will continue to shrink in the next few months.

What about The Witcher 4?

Another title that CD Projekt talked about is the first part of the new “The Witcher” trilogy. The role-playing game is being created under the working title “Project Polaris” and is currently the focus of internal efforts. According to CD Projekt, a 403-person team is working on “Project Polaris.”

This corresponds to 64 percent of the entire workforce. But how far has the development of the new “The Witcher” adventure progressed? According to CD Projekt CEO Adam Badowski, “Project Polaris” remains in pre-production. Internally, however, the studio assumes that full production will start during 2024.

The Witcher remake and a new brand

The remake of the original “The Witcher” announced in 2022 is currently still in the concept phase. According to CD Projekt, the new edition sees itself as one modern reinterpretation of the classic role-playing game and is being developed by the Fool's Theory studio.

Since the remake is not being made internally, CD Projekt cannot say how many people are currently working on the project.

The final item among the projects discussed was “Project Hadar”. At “Project Hadar” we are dealing with a new role-playing game brand from CD Projekt, on which a 20-member team is working. Here too, CD Projekt says that the title is still in the concept phase. So we shouldn't expect any concrete details in the foreseeable future.

CD Projekt also used the annual report for the past quarter to provide us with concrete figures on the success of “Cyberpunk 2077”.
