Prepare for a Game-Changing Update: A Highly Anticipated Patch is on the Horizon

FF7 Rebirth is clearly a masterful sequel to the Remake, which pays a superb homage to the legendary original game. The only downside: the technical part, which will soon be patched!

Naoki Hamaguchi, director of FF7 Rebirth, announced the good news regarding what this patch will contain during a interview during a trip to the Philippines. Let's see what the man had to say during his stay at our Asian equivalent of Costa Del Sol.

FF7 Rebirth is a slap in the face, but not so much on a technical level

Since its release on February 29, PS5 players have been able to see for themselves why the press (including us) have literally praised FF7 Rebirth. However, despite the power of the Sony console, the technical results of the game leave something to be desired. Especially when it comes to textures that are sometimes very low resolution, or tend to “flicker”. The biggest complaint about the game, however, lies with its Fluidity mode.

This certainly ensures gaming at a constant 60 frames per second, but at a terrible price. The overall rendering is often terribly blurry, due to a significant resolution downscale, especially in very open areas. However, some players swear by this fluidity. FF7 Rebirth's Loyalty mode is certainly impressive visually, but the framerate halved hurts. Don't panic, Square Enix has heard the (many) distress calls from the community regarding Fluidity mode.

A Fluidity Material approaching

Naoki Hamaguchi states: “ We received a lot of feedback on whether or not the visual aspect of performance mode will be improved. We heard you, and we are currently working on a patch to correct this pitfall. I think its deployment is not very far away “. This is news that is certainly a pleasure to read for fans of FF7 Rebirth.

However, it is perhaps appropriate to moderate one's expectations. Remember that, on the demo, a Fluidity mode patch had already been applied when the Junon zone became accessible. However, the changes made by this patch were not really obvious. Let's hope Square Enix gets it right this time. In fact, all that is missing is a few visual recalibrations for FF7 Rebirth to be the masterpiece it aspires to be.
