A rare success
While Sea of Thieves has long been seen by some observers as an online game “empty” “which should not last long”, here he is, with full sails, passing his sixth year of existence with insolent vigor. How long gone are the days when we read every piece of information on this title that “Rare is dead since the Microsoft takeover”. Sea of Thieves is a success story that publishers/developers envy. After a stormy launch caused by quests with little variety and various server issues, SoT has established itself over time thanks to word of mouth, thanks to its unpredictable games, and especially thanks to Rare who only made good choices to ensure that your ship always has the wind at your back.
Since the launch of the software, the British developer has created a new business model, added a ton of things to do, set up campaigns set in the universe of Pirates of the Caribbean and Monkey Island, and designed a ton of mechanics improving the gaming experience (like recently with fast travel). Not bad.

On the road to 50 million?
Launched on PC and Xbox in March 2018, Sea of Thieves has welcomed over 40 million pirates to date, which is 10 million more than the previous figure given by Rare a few years ago. “40 million players across Xbox, Windows 10 and Steam is an incredible milestone to talk about, and of course, it wouldn't have happened without you, our brilliant community” said executive producer Joe Neate on the official website. He adds : “That being said, I would also like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to the team, who have worked so hard to deliver over a hundred free updates since launch”.
More than 40 million pirates have set sail on the Sea of Thieves! That's going to be quit the tavern tab…
A Megalodon-sized thank you to everyone who's joined us so far. Enjoy some words from our very own Joe Neate to mark the occasion: https://t.co/5xEvOOGwxo pic.twitter.com/zjD59vN4C0

The good news is that this nice number is not expected to go down anytime soon, since season 12 of the game arrives at the end of the month, at the same time as Sea of Thieves on PlayStation 5. How beautiful, Xbox, PC and PS5 players will be able to cross paths at sea and say words to each other 'love. We look forward.
