Holiday mood in the new Pokémon for the Switch 2.

The Pokémon Company has announced the new generation of pocket monsters. In Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave you will find yourself on sunny islands with tropical beaches. As always, you have to choose between three starter Pokémon.

These are the new Pokémon starters:

Plant starter: Braubel

Pokémon Braubel will accompany all players who prefer a plant-based monster. It looks a bit like an Angry Bird, but still has the necessary Pokémon fluffiness.

Fire starter: Pomfifi

Speaking of fluffiness: If you want to take a cute dog with you on your next Pokémon adventure, you should choose Pomfifi. The pocket monster is practically a circular ball of fur.

Water Starter: Gekkua

Finally, Gekkua is waiting for you. With the water starter, Game Freak once again takes its inspiration from the world of lizards.

What can you experience in Pokémon Wind and Wave?

So far, Game Freak is only showing the first stage of evolution of the new starter Pokémon. Ultimately, all three phases are likely to be decisive in the final selection.

Each of the three Pokémon also reflects an element of the new game – at least that’s what one can assume. Braubel is at home in the forests of the islands. Pomfifi, on the other hand, is shown in a cave lit by flowing lava. In the trailer, Gekkua sits in a pool in the swamp. In general, however, water will be a big issue in the Switch 2 switch.

Game Freak shows coral reefs and stormy seas here. The trailer even ends with a glimpse of an underwater world. This time you will probably also be able to dive and catch new monsters there.

Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Wave are scheduled to be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. There is no exact release date yet.
