Persona 6 could be the best JRPG of all time

So, are you still busy with Persona 3 Reload? This is probably the case for many people, after all the game offers around a hundred hours of activity if you really want to get everything done. Maybe you're already done with it and you're like me: you need Persona replenishment – and above all, a breath of fresh air in the series!

Because as much as I love my squad from Part 3 and the Phantom Thieves Persona 5 I have also taken it to my heart and would love to travel with them again and again, Part 5 in particular has slowly exhausted its capacity.

After the base game, the expanded royal version, the almost-sequel Strikers, a rhythm game, a tactical spin-off and even more smaller spin-offs, it's just good, despite all the love. It's time to give the stage to new characters – and they won't be at all green behind the ears. Or does it?

A colorful rainbow

It hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but it seems almost certain: the color scheme of Persona 6 turns green! The choice of colors isn't particularly surprising, however, because there aren't that many colors left in the rainbow.

Persona 25th Anniversary Festival

Okay, this isn't the groundbreaking information I – and probably you too – were hoping for. Rather, I would have liked a rough release period or at least a sign of life.

The green theory has been circulating online for almost two years. The reason for this is one Artworkthat Atlus and Sega released as part of the Persona 25th Anniversary Festival in 2022.

All the protagonists of the Persona series can be seen in front of graffiti, chronologically from right to left. And next to Joker, the main character from the fifth part, there is a bucket of green paint on the floor.

That caused a lot of speculation at the time. However, since things were and still are officially very quiet about the successor to the Phantom Thieves, the fan speculation almost died down again at some point.

But recently there was Insider Midori on X, formerly Twitter, announced that the color from the artwork will be exactly the shade of green that will be used in Persona 6.

Persona 5 Royal

Such statements should always be treated with caution, but Midori already has the Aegis expansion for Persona 3 Reload and other announcements correctly predicted. So there is a high probability that the fan theory about the color is actually correct.

And by the way, Midori claims that other parts of the series will get new editions. In what form remains to be seen, but I would be very happy to be able to catch up on the other parts in a similarly souped-up form as the third one.

Still hidden deep in the Metaverse

But back to the topic at hand: Green isn't my favorite color and I guess I have to accept that I won't be getting a hot pink Persona – I'm pinning my hopes on you, Persona 13!

But I'm sure that the developers will once again create an incredibly stylish game in which the color of the menus only plays a minor role.

Either way, I'm happy about the alleged leak because it means we can finally hear something new about Persona 6. Most recently, at the beginning of 2023, a rumor made the rounds that development was already well advanced and it wouldn't be much time before the official unveiling.

Persona 3 reload

Since then we've gotten Persona 3 Reload, and Metaphor: ReFantazio, which clearly shows its Atlus DNA, was announced. However, there is still no trace of a direct Persona successor.

Maybe Atlus and Sega just want to wait for the new release and the expansion pass for Reload before the hustle and bustle about a new part begins – one is currently rumored Release in 2025.

There are a few things I want for Persona 6, no matter what color and shape it ends up being. Because as good as the remake of the third part is, especially in direct comparison to number five, I noticed a few things about the games that I would wish were different.

I'm sure that if the developers build on their previous experiences and go one step further, they could create the best JRPG of all time and even surpass Persona 5 Royal's impressive 95 metascore.

If you know one, you know them all

Persona 5 and Bloodborne are always fighting for first place on the podium of my favorite video games, but one thing is clear: the Japanese role-playing game has secured a very special place in my heart.

Actually, I'm not someone who can spend a lot of time playing individual games. So the fact that I accompanied the Phantom Thieves for around 250 hours, when I add up all the parts, is really saying something. They have all really grown on me. Nevertheless, it's now time for me to get to know and love new characters. And that brings us to the first point: fewer stereotypes among the characters.
