Pax Dei – Understanding the Equipment

Equipment management is a bit special on Pax Dei, because it defines your “class” or your gameplay. It is important to understand the logic so as not to make mistakes initially.

To understand equipment management on Pax Deiyou have to remember that there are no classes as such in the game. And you don't have any “levels” or gear score either.

In fact, we will nevertheless find the notions of light, medium or heavy armor. We will talk here about fabric, leather or flats. This equipment has armor points that will protect you.

They complement each other to protect you against either the COLD/FIRE/MENTAL/POISON elements or against damage, whether it is Blunt, Piercing or SHARP. It's up to you to know which mobs or which nominees (Elite or equivalent) do what, of course. In total, you have eighteen equippable slots. Note that for the moment, the jewelry is still only decorative.

All of these have durability. The more you use them and take a beating, the more they get damaged. The good news is that you can repair them at the workshop. The other good news is that it's even free….. BUT, there is a big “but”! Each time you repair, the maximum durability decreases. In other words, there will come a time when your part will be good to throw away. In the image, you can see that the breastplate has already been repaired once: as a result, its maximum “life” (blue bar) is no longer complete, and, as explained, there will come a time when the blue bar will be empty. On the bottom, the red part represents the loss of this cycle. Once the yellow bar disappears in favor of the red part, the part will cease to protect you and will therefore require repair at the workshop.

On this breastplate, you can also notice that it has two small yellow diamonds at the top left. This corresponds to its third which is “2”. Its statistics are therefore better than third 1, but it is more complex to crafter.

For weapons, it works the same for durability and thirds. But there is one more component. Your character will have skills linked to different types of weapons. The principle is simple: the more you master your weapon, the more damage you do. And to increase expertise, just play with this type of weapon. Below is the same two-handed sword on both screens. White numbers indicate base damage. The blue numbers represent the damage of the same weapon, but taking into account my level of expertise. In other words, the same crafted weapon will not give the same statistics to two different players.

It's up to you to see what you want to prioritize, because the number of weapons already available is quite impressive!

The sword above also shows another important element: it is equipped with a spell. In this case, “The Slug II which slows down enemies. This is fundamental on Pax Dei: certain pieces of equipment will come out with “perks” individuals. You will actually find everything there that will correspond to healing, tanking, agro, damage etc. As said in the introduction, there are no classes as such on Pax Dei: it is you who will, by associating various pieces of equipment with spells, create your own build. Which parts ? For convenience, it is always the same pieces which produce the same spells. On the other hand, crafters will require specific components that must be looted. THE craft is not at will.

This is a first approach to how the equipment works on Pax Dei. Over time, you will discover which spells you like, and you will have to hunt for the components. Note that you could have these on every room, but you can only equip five of them as a shortcut.
