How does this change the roles of Oppo and Realme?
It’s a bit unclear so far. Oneplus and Oppo have not defined Realme’s role, more than the information that recently appeared that Realme would officially take over Oneplus’s role and become a priority brand in the Nordics is not correct. Instead, Oppo says that the Nordics and Europe are a priority area for Oppo and that it is hoped that Oneplus customers will recognize themselves in Oppo’s products because Oneplus and Oppo have a lot in common.
What is happening with Oneplus online community?
According to Oneplus, it will continue for the time being. Exactly how Oneplus themselves have often talked about building their products based on their community has defined that manufacturer and that is also what Oppo and Oneplus are referring to when they make this change. That even the closure of Oneplus is done for the good of the customers. And then that the customer-focused approach should follow into Oppo.
But what does this mean for Realme?
Mobil has asked that very question to Oppo and Oneplus without getting an answer. Questions about Realme they refer to Realme and we are waiting for an answer from there.
Who comes out victorious from this?
Since Oppo, Oneplus and Realme are all owned by the same owner, there may not be outright winners or losers. Having said that, it can be clearly seen which brand is prioritized in the reorganization. In recent months, both Oppo and Realme have established themselves in Sweden and the Nordics. For example, Oppo is available at all the major operators, while Realme is available at a handful of retailers. Today’s changes suggest that Oppo gains the most from this and also keeps pace, at the expense of Realme’s role.
How will it go about getting the Oneplus customers over to Oppo?
Oppo is making a clear investment in that area. We have been told that next week a campaign will start where OnePlus users can change their OnePlus account to an Oppo account and then get an 80W Supervocc charger as a thank you. OnePlus customers who buy certain Oppo products will also be able to take advantage of discounts after transferring their account.
What happens to Oneplus service, warranty and spare parts?
Oppo and the remnants of Oneplus say that warranties and service commitments should work as usual, according to what was in effect at the time of purchase. What applies in practice, as for example the Oneplus store selling cables, accessories and the like is all out of stock remains to be seen.
What happens to Oxygen OS in existing Oneplus devices?
In the coming months, according to Oppo, it will be replaced by Oppo’s own Color OS instead. Oxygen OS has gradually become more and more like Color OS, but it is still a change. Those who want to opt out can do so and those who have switched to Color OS should also be able to go back to Oxygen OS if they are not satisfied.
