On Student’s Day, beeline found out how young people use mobile Internet

Young people of student age use the mobile Internet in different ways at home, on the road and outside the city – follows from a survey, the results of which were analyzed by Beeline for Student’s Day. If at home one of the most popular goals was to search for information on the net, then on the road and especially outside the city, entertainment content has an advantage.

Judging by the results of a survey conducted by Beeline among its customers, 76% of young people aged 16-25 at home use the capabilities of the mobile network to search for various information. The same number of respondents use the mobile Internet to watch videos, series and films. Slightly fewer (75%) use it to listen to music online. Most of the youth are involved in these activities.

Clients aged 16-25 need mobile Internet in transport primarily to listen to music, 88% of respondents said this. But young people are no longer interested in searching for information on the road as much as they are at home, this activity has become only the third most popular activity – 52%. Also, young people of student age are more active than other respondents watching video content on the road.

The survey also recorded the fact that outside the city, young people prefer mobile Internet for recreation and entertainment. Searching for information and reading news in instant messengers does not fall into the top 3 purposes of using the Internet. While 68% of the young people surveyed read the news in the city, only 48% read the news outside the city. Older respondents outside the city search for information on the Internet and read news in instant messengers more actively than students.

Young people, going out of town, do not turn off their favorite audio recordings. 73% said that they use the possibilities of the mobile Internet in nature, primarily for listening to music online. The second most popular view of the feed on social networks is 69%. Cellular communication provides many people with the opportunity to watch video content outside the city: the option to watch videos, series and films was in third place – 57%.

In Moscow and the Moscow region, further development of the Beeline network is being carried out. So, in 2022, more than 5,000 new base stations were built to improve coverage and connection reliability. In addition, as a result of the refarming of the 2100 frequency band from 3G to 4G, the average speed of mobile Internet increased by more than 1.5 times.
