Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition announced for Switch

The Nintendo World Championships are back… in your living room! Get ready to take on over 150 speed challenges from NES games in World Championships: NES Edition, available 7/18 on Nintendo Switch.

The Nintendo World Championships (NWC) is a series of video game competitions organized by Nintendo. They began in 1990 with the first tournament held in the United States. This first tournament was inspired by the movie “The Wizard”, in which a similar fictional tournament is held.

The first Nintendo World Championships was a major event where players from all over the United States could participate. It featured a series of challenges on different Nintendo games, including Super Mario Bros., Rad Racer and Tetris. Players were tested on their skills, speed and accuracy.

The first tournament was a great success and was followed by several other similar events over the years, although the frequency of tournaments varied. The Nintendo World Championships were reintroduced in 2015, after a nearly 25-year hiatus since the last tournament. The 2015 one was held on the sidelines of E3 in Los Angeles and featured a mix of new Nintendo games, including Splatoon and Super Mario Maker.

This year, it's for everyone, on all consoles.

Take on over 150 speed challenges in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition on Nintendo Switch.
