Nexon announces action-RPG Vindictus: Defying Fate – News

Announced on PC but also on consoles, Vindictus: Defying Fate says it is inspired by Celtic mythology and takes place in the same medieval fantasy world as the Vindictus from 2010, fans may have recognized the character of Fiona at the center of this trailer. Many characters will be available to face the Fomoires, creatures inspired by Irish Celtic mythology. If they are ready to take on the challenge of a game in which “ each battle will be a test of skill, strategy and reflexes », Steam players will have the opportunity to take the temperature well before its release thanks to the pre-alpha test which will take place from March 13 to 18. All you have to do while waiting for the big day is put the game in your wishlist on Steam. The development team will take note of the testers' impressions, particularly on the server Discord Game.

Very early access

For the rest, Nexon itself does not seem to really know what is supposed to become Vindictus: Defying Fate. After three months of prototyping at the start of 2023, development only began last spring and many elements still remain to be determined, starting with the story which is not yet in place, the economic model which is not yet in place. not decided either, same for the number of characters or the presence of a PvP mode. We know, however, that the structure of the game is “for the moment” not an open world and that the game system is close to an soulslike but not too much. In short, Nexon is still finding its way and is apparently counting on you to help it find the right direction. One thing is still clear: the production of this action-RPG in no way means the end of the MMO Vindictus.

Two playable characters – Lann and Fiona – are available in the pre-alpha test. The exact total number of playable characters for the launch version has not yet been decided. The development team plans to add new characters from the license as well as unique characters to our game through continuous updates. You will have access to the combat system still under construction and some outfit customization functions. However, please note that the costumes and gestures applied in this pre-alpha are intended for testing purposes and therefore do not necessarily correspond to the actual personality of the characters. As this is an early stage of the game, please note that the story system is not yet implemented, so we may not be able to fully present the specific universe of Celtic mythology », explains Nexon on its FAQs.
