New Xbox announced: Looks fantastic, but that doesn’t help either

New Xbox triggers buying mood.

Microsoft is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Xbox consoles with a special anniversary collection. The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition and a matching wireless controller are decorated in a transparent shade of green that should make many fans nostalgic. The very first Xbox was also sold in this shade of green.

New Xbox console with a retro look

The case of the special edition is a real highlight because it provides a view of the inner workings of the Xbox Series X. This look, which Xbox calls “OG Green” in a blog post, is complemented by details that honor the brand’s history. When you turn on the console, the distinctive “X” on the front lights up, just like it did when you launched the original Xbox.

The controller has also been redesigned to match the console. The wireless controller also comes in a transparent green design. The back and battery cover are also completely transparent, revealing the classic Xbox logo inside.

The special Xbox will be available in select markets from November. The controller is also sold separately. Microsoft has not yet given an exact date for pre-orders and the price remains a secret (source: Xbox Wire).

Xbox fans are excited, but there’s a catch

Xbox fans are enthusiastic in the comments under the trailer. They enjoy the retro look and demand that the person in charge get a raise. The praise also extends to the new Xbox boss Asha Sharma (Source: YouTube).

But there is one concern. A comment with over 4,000 likes worries that there won’t be enough consoles for every interested fan to buy a copy. In this case, the hunt for the Xbox would quickly shift to eBay and similar platforms, where the consoles are sold at exorbitant prices.

Martin Hartmann (own opinion):

Wow, the new Xbox looks really good!

I’m a PC gamer, so I’ve never felt like I had to buy an Xbox. However, the new retro version really looks so good that it makes me want a console.

However, two points help to curb my own hype somewhat. For one thing, it probably won’t be that easy to get the console. On the other hand, Microsoft has not yet revealed a price. This usually means that the Xbox is going to be really expensive.
