The purpose of Android’s so-called Fast Pair function is to make it faster and easier to pair and install new devices. At the moment the function is headphones and smartwatches and will eventually also include tracking tags and pens. Now, code diggers examining the latest version of the Android Package Kit (APK) used for the feature have discovered that Google plans to add support for Android phones. The ability to quickly pair, for example, two mobile phones would mean considerable simplifications in moving from one mobile phone to another, or making an installation on an Android tablet, not least if the Fast Pair functionality is combined with Samsung’s app Samsung Smart Switch.
It is speculated that Samsung may introduce this new Fast Pair functionality in conjunction with the launch of the Galaxy S23 phones.
