A new stage for “Tekken 8” has been available since yesterday Monday. However, owners of the season pass do not get this for free, but have to pay 4.99 euros like all other players. That's why we're currently seeing a flood of negative reviews on Steam. It's after the Introduction of the in-game shop and Fighting Pass the next review bombing.
“Harada and the Tekken 8 development team are really charging five dollars for a stage that was supposed to be included in the season pass with the release of Heihachi. This practice did not exist for any of Tekken 7's DLC characters in this context. They were always packed together,” writes one of the dissatisfied users.
Another user also makes it clear: “Should be included in the Ultimate Edition. This is pure greed. If I buy such an overpriced and large edition, I expect not to pay until at least the season is finished.”
Accordingly, the reviews are “very negative”. Only eight percent of current ratings are positive.
The Tekken boss apologizes and creates transparency
Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada noted this criticism and therefore posted a detailed statement on X. “As the person responsible for the TEKKEN franchise, I apologize,” he writes at the beginning.
However, he says: “It was clear from the start that the Year One Pass (Season Pass) would not contain any stages.” Nevertheless, the Sea Side Resort Stage was free and players even got the additional story chapter for free. Things are different with the new Genmaji Temple Stage, which Harada addressed in order to create transparency.
Two companies are responsible for “Tekken 8”: the development studio and the publisher. In the predecessor, development and publishing were not yet separated. As the franchise boss, he acts as a bridge between the two companies. However, he was unable to “participate adequately in the publisher’s decision-making process.” He also failed to “monitor things” that went beyond his own position.
In the end, Harada concludes: “From now on, I will review this structure and transform it into a structure that values the community as it has in the past.”
By the way, the new DLC fighter Heihachi Mishima will be available to all fighters starting tomorrow. Year One Pass owners, on the other hand, can already play with him.
“Tekken 8” is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. PlayStation players can currently save 43 percent on the Standard Edition Purchase for just 45.59 euros. The Ultimate Edition is also cheaper and currently only costs 83.99 euros. But you have to hurry: the offer is only valid today!
