Naughty Dog's last big title is now 4 years old

The second “The Last of Us” spin-off is one year older. Naughty Dog drew attention to this with a tweet today.

On June 19, 2020, “The Last of Us Part 2” was released for the PS4. It was (along with “Ghost of Tsushima”) the penultimate major exclusive title for Sony’s second most successful console.

The controversial plot divided the PlayStation community. This can be clearly seen in the User score on Metacritic, which is just 5.8 out of ten points. The metascore is completely different, at an impressive 93 points. The fun action-stealth mechanics, the impressive graphics and the polarizing story have led to this high score.

This did not harm the success: By spring 2022, part two sold more than ten million times. What the sales figures look like now is unknown.

For the fourth anniversary, Naughty Dog posted a post thanking players:

If you want to get interesting insights into the development of the blockbuster title, you should watch the “Grounded II” documentary from February:

Since January of this year, a remaster of “The Last of Us Part 2” has also been available. available. This includes not only technical improvements, but also new content. This includes the roguelike mode “No Turning Back”, cut levels, a guitar mode and new outfits for the two main characters.

A PC version seems according to a report to be finished. However, it will probably be several months before publication.

The events of the second main part will be told again in 2025. This is the year that the second season of the successful “The Last of Us” series starts. Bella Ramsey is back as Ellie and Pedro Pascal as Joel. Newcomers include Isabela Merced (Dina), Young Mazino (Jesse) and Kaitlyn Dever (Abby).

It's been four years since Naughty Dog last released a new game. Since then, the PlayStation studio has only released a new edition of “The Last of Us Part 1” and the aforementioned “The Last of Us Part 2” remaster. What's coming next is still unknown. In any case, “several single-player projects” are in the works. According to an older rumor, one of these could be a new fantasy IP.
