MultiVersus – MultiVersus will finally (re)launch on May 28 – with a PvE mode

After several months of open beta and two seasons abruptly interrupted in June last year, the crazy fighting game Multiversus will finally be launched in commercial version at the end of next May with new content.

MultiVersus remains in the memories for having been one of the small fun video phenomena of summer 2022: we remember, the fighting game from the studio Player First Games was launched in open beta in July, before quickly attracting a large number of players (10 million after one month of operation, 20 million in September 2022)… and then losing almost all of them in a few months – in February 2023, the title only had a few thousand aficionados left. . In this somewhat chaotic context, Player First Games then announced that it would end the open beta of Multiversus in June 2023, and promised to carry out an official launch “early 2024” – an offline version of the game was still playable, but it was not It was no longer possible to download the client for possible new players. The announcement aroused a certain surprise to the extent that many players considered that Multiversus was officially available, in particular because its store was functional.

Still, Multiversus is now back in the spotlight: Player First Games finally announces a commercial launch set for May 28on PC (via Steam andEpic Games Store), on PlayStation and Xbox, distributed free-to-play and with a cross-play option. Players who made purchases during the open beta will find their account intact upon release, along with their purchases.

New content for the commercial launch

And for the occasion, the developer promises the addition of some new features. One of the originalities of Multiversus is based in particular on its catalog of playable characters, from Warner licenses – heroes DC Comics, but also Looney Tunes, Sami and Velma from Scooby-Doo or even Tom and Jerry, among a few dozen characters. With the launch, new heroes must be added, from new universes and the character mechanics already available have also been remodeled. The developer also promises a cooperative PvE mode, which will be revealed later, between now and release. The studio also promises a netcode update, so that the technical problems encountered by some players in beta do not recur.

This definitive version of Multiversus will be distributed free-to-play, financed by a cosmetic store and a Battle pass. The title's ecosystem includes Gleamium, a currency that can be purchased with real money or earned in-game, allowing you to unlock characters, skins or cosmetic items. The developer assures that all characters can be unlocked in-game – none are exclusive to the store. The new contents of Multiversus are intended to be gradually revealed between now and the release on May 28.
