Since the concept of the metaverse was proposed in October 2021, governments, industries and academia have accelerated their deployment and carried out a series of work in the fields of technology research, industrial promotion, and standard development. In June 2022, the Metaverse Standards Forum was established internationally to carry out standardization work in related fields and promote standardization to assist the development of the Metaverse industry. In order to speed up the standardization work of the Metaverse in my country and keep pace with the development of the international Metaverse, an application for the establishment of a Metaverse Standardization Working Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is hereby submitted. (1) Thoroughly implement the “National Standardization Development Outline” and other series of policy decisions and arrangements on strengthening standard research in the metaverse field. 2. Organization plan for the establishment of the Yuanverse Standardization Working Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
(1) Feasibility of preparation
The China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute actively organizes the domestic industry to keep up with the development trend of Yuanverse technology, and supports the implementation of the “New Industry Standardization Pilot Project Implementation Plan (2023-2035)” and the “Three-Year Action Plan for the Innovation and Development of Yuanverse Industry (2023-2035)” 2025)” preparation and promotion, research and formation of the report “Linking the Metaverse: Research and Exploration”, and jointly with industry, academia and research units to actively carry out research on the standardization needs of the Metaverse, and propose the direction of the standardization needs of the Metaverse, covering basic standards, key technologies, application implementation and technical governance, etc., and has carried out pre-research work on key standards such as reference architecture and industrial metaverse construction specifications. The Metaverse Working Committee (CESA MWC) was established under the China Electronics Industry Standardization Association (CESA), and the Metaverse Working Group (TC28/SG4) was established under the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee (TC28). At the same time, we actively promote international standardization work, promote the establishment of the Metaverse Study Group (IEEE MSG) in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and take the lead in establishing a joint Metaverse Standardization Assessment Group in the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It is responsible for the work of the secretariats of 14 national standardization technical committees and 24 national standardization technical committee sub-technical committee secretariats. Currently, internationally ISO, IEC, and ITU are studying the layout of standardization work related to the Metaverse field, but have not yet established an international standardization technical committee related to the Metaverse, and there is no domestic counterpart unit. In China, there is no standardization technology organization for the Yuanverse industry. In order to prepare for the establishment of the Yuanverse Industry Standardization Technical Committee, we have cooperated with the already established National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC28), National Audio, Video and Multimedia System and Equipment Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC242), and National District Standardization Technical Committee. The Blockchain and Distributed Accounting Technology Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC590) communicates and coordinates, and has received strong support from relevant standardization technical committees. 3. Work scope and work plan
The work scope of the Metaverse Standardization Working Group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology includes:
