Mid-gen console apparently has a surprising advantage

With the imminent market launch of the PS5 Pro The eyes of many technology enthusiasts are focused on the details of the console. And it seems Sony has listened and fixed a problem with previous consoles.

An image shared on social media suggests that Sony is emphasizing improved repair options this time. One aspect is particularly in focus: an apparently new slot for the CMOS battery, which should make replacing this hardware component easier.

CMOS battery is probably very easy to replace

The CMOS battery plays an essential role in the operation of consoles, as it is necessary for storing basic system information and, last but not least, powers the system clock.

In the event of a defect or an empty battery, limitations in functionality may occur, which has led to problems with the PS4 in the past. A Update from Sony cared for a solution though. However, physically replacing the CMOS battery remains a hurdle for some users. It's a difficulty that Sony seems to want to mitigate with the PS5 Pro.

A picturewhich is currently making the rounds on social media, shows a slot on the back of the PS5 Pro. It could indicate that the CMOS battery will be easier to access and replace in the future, which was met with enthusiasm on Reddit and Co.: “It was about time,” wrote one user. “Hopefully that will follow PlayStation 6 this example.”

We should soon have certainty: media and influencers have increasing access to the console, but detailed reviews and insights are currently still under embargo.

PS5 Pro is landing with more and more people

Another design decision regarding the PS5 Pro is also interesting: the console is marketed as “disc-free” on the packaging, which makes it a primarily digital platform in the public perception.

The lack of the drive is also evident on the packaging with a crossed-out Blu-ray symbol, as made clear again in a tweet. First time but we don't see the symbol.

As is well known, the PS5 Pro can easily be turned into a disk console. For users who prefer physical games, Sony offers an optional Blu-ray drive for around 120 euros. It is the model that is also compatible with the PS5 Slim.

The catch: Due to the widespread sell-out, the drive can be sold out Don't just put it in your shopping cart.
