Meta announces what PS VR2 owners would also like

With “Batman: Arkham Shadow,” another part of the popular series is coming onto the market, this time as a VR game. Owners of the PlayStation VR2 virtual reality headset are once again watching from the sidelines.

The next game in the “Batman Arkham” series will be released this year – but differently than many fans had probably hoped. “Batman: Arkham Shadow” is a joint project between Camouflaj and Oculus Studios and is aimed exclusively at Meta Quest 3.

The launch of the virtual reality game is planned for the end of 2024 and is likely to be viewed with envy by the PS VR2 community. The latest news came out here that it itself Layoffs among the few internal VR developers gave.

“Batman: Arkham Shadow” was presented with a teaser trailer that only reveals a few insights but underlines the dark setting. “Evil stalks the streets. Gotham City is in danger. And you are the only one who can save it,” the official description reads.

Despite the name, it's unclear whether the game will follow the canon of Rocksteady's “Arkham” series. At the same time, it is not the first VR game in this universe. “Batman: Arkham VR” was released in 2016 alongside the original PlayStation VR headset. The title is available until May 9, 2024 for 2.99 euros on PSN.

While PlayStation VR2 has been rather quiet lately and many owners have complained about Sony's extremely limited first-party support, Meta is taking the next offensive: The company wants Meta Horizon OS, the operating system for the Quest headsets, for external hardware -Open manufacturer.
