Massive job cuts at Google impacting Flutter, Dart, and Python Teams

Google Company dismisses some of the employees involved in the Flutter and Dart projects, as well as a team involved in developments related to the Python programming language. Reorganization caused by optimization of processes, redistribution of responsibilities, as well as getting rid of bureaucracy and unnecessary links is mentioned as the main reason for staff reduction. Dismissal of the entire Python team explained replacing the old team with another, geographically located in Munich.

Moving Python-related work from the US to Germany is expected to reduce development costs by hiring less expensive labor. The US Python team at Google consisted of fewer than 10 developers and was responsible for managing the Python language ecosystem at Google, ensuring Python stability, updating Python-related third-party packages, and developing type checking tooling. The total number of employees subject to dismissal has not been specified, but judging by the declaration filed in California, about 60 people will be laid off at the Google office located in Sunnyvale.
