Making-ofs shed light on the story, characters and voice acting

This week PlayStation and Square Enix provided us with three more making-of videos for the role-playing hit “Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth”. This time it's all about the story, characters and voice acting.

In addition to the release of “Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth” at the end of February, Square Enix and PlayStation launched a making-of series for the role-playing game a few days ago.

The second episode focuses on the story of “Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth”. The video also highlights the work on the cutscenes.

Game director Naoki Hamaguchi, creative director Tetsuya Nomura, producer Yoshinori Kitase and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima have their say, giving us an interesting look behind the scenes.

This is how Square Enix reworked the characters

The third episode of the making-of deals with the various characters of “Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth”. The developers also talk about the way they were revised for the remake. The creative minds behind the role-playing game also address the adjustments to the combat system. In the third episode we are also introduced to various members of the development team.

These include lead character artist Dai Suzuki, localization producer Eri Asano, English translator Ben Sabin, combat system director Teruki Endo and combat animation director Horiyuki Yamaji.

In the fourth edition of the making-of series, those responsible at Square Enix address voice acting. Here the voice actors Cody Christian (Cloud), Britt Baron (Tifa), Briana White (Aerith), John Eric Bentley (Barret), Max Mittelman (Red XIII), Suzie Yeung (Yuffie), Caleb Pierce (Zack Fair) and Matt chat Mercer (Vincent) about her work on “Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth”.

Work on the third act of the remake is underway

In February, game director Naoki Hamaguchi gave us an update for the third and final act of “Final Fantasy 7: Remakes”. Hamaguchi's statements suggested that we shouldn't expect the third part to be released until 2027 at the earliest.

“Of course I can’t tell you what stage we are at. But we have already made progress on the script and are considering certain developments,” continued Hamaguchi.



Earlier this month, Hamaguchi pointed out that Rocket Town, home of the character Cid Highwind, was intentionally left out of Rebirth. However, the setting could return in the third act.

In addition, Hamaguchi hinted that we may be looking at further content from the “Compilation of Final Fantasy 7” in the final act of the “Final Fantasy 7 Remake”. may set.

However, the game director did not want to officially confirm anything in this regard.
