Hackers have hacked the Insomniac Games studio behind the PS5 game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Cybercriminals have revealed potential images of the next Wolverine game.
Insomniac Games, a famous video game studio, has been the victim of a cyberattack. Hackers from the Rhysida Ransomware group claimed responsibility for their attack on December 12 on the darknet site. As evidence, they showed employee IDs, email exchanges about Spider-Man 2 and images of certain games, including what appears to be the future “Wolverine”. Cybercriminals ask for 50 bitcoins to keep all the data confidential, or around 1.9 million euros according to the latest price.
Rhysida Ransomware gives Insomniac Games six days to pay the ransom. It is possible that hackers will also sell the data to the highest bidder.
Marvel’s Wolwerine’s likely future costume leaked
In the images revealed by Rhysida, we see the potential future costume of the game “ Marvel’s Wolwerine », the studio’s next flagship title. Several exchanges also concern “ Marvel’s Spiderman 2 », currently one of the most popular games on PS5.
Rhysida Ransomware is a new group of cybercriminals, active since 2023. These hackers have already made some high-profile victims, such as in Martinique last June. Hackers cripple the victim’s computer system with ransomware, software that encrypts data, before demanding a ransom to unlock everything. The Insomniac Games studio has not yet publicly reacted to this cyberattack.
