After 26120.961 did not work out as Microsoft had imagined, a new update is now available for Dev Insiders. KB 5038603 increases the version number of Windows 11 24H2 to 26120.1252. This is more of a correction version. In addition, the blocked new functions are reactivated.
Known issues with KB5038603
- [WICHTIG] Windows Insiders joining the Development Channel on PCs running Windows 11, version 24H2 Build 26100.xxxx will see a note saying “(Repair Release)” next to the latest Development Channel build from Windows Update. This is nothing to worry about, as it simply means that an in-place upgrade is being performed to update your PC to the latest build in the Development Channel.
- NEW There is an issue in this build where the Windows Update page in Settings doesn't display correctly (no text is displayed) for Insiders who use certain languages. If you're affected by this, the update should still happen on its own with the next build, but you may have to wait a bit.
- New: Adding additional languages or optional features may fail with error 0x800f081f.
- Task Manager: Navigating between different pages in Task Manager may cause Task Manager to crash.
Corrections and improvements made by KB5038603
- We're starting to re-enable the new features that we started enabling on 6/28 but paused on 6/30. We're starting to enable these features on a small percentage basis first, so not all Insiders in the Dev Channel who have this switch enabled will see all of these features right away. And some features may appear while others may not appear yet.
- Start menu You can now also pin applications from the Start menu to the taskbar by dragging items directly from the pinned section in the Start menu to the taskbar. See also this post
- File Explorer: The ability to drag and drop files between breadcrumbs is now available in the File Explorer address bar – thanks again to Insiders who shared their feedback on this feature!
- Lock screen We're starting to bring weather and more to your lock screen with this build in the Dev Channel. Stay informed and efficient with dynamic updates that bring finance, traffic, and sports to your lock screen in addition to weather. Maps design has been improved with acrylic blur, map size, spacing, and font optimization. To enable this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Lock screen. For more info, see Personalize your lock screen.
- Widgets We're also making some improvements to the Widgets button on the taskbar so that the icons on the taskbar are clearer, and we're also introducing a larger set of animated icons.
