KB5028949 .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11 (Next) cannot be installed – workaround

Briefly informed: Yesterday was not only the patch day for Windows 10 and 11. The .NET Framework also received updates. So also the Windows 11 Canary with the KB5028949 as .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows Version Next for x64.But for some the update could not be installed.

As DK2000 found out (thanks for that), it’s most likely due to having .NET Framework 3.5 enabled. “Then the update cannot be installed because the TrustedInstaller (servicing stack) crashes.” You can now wait until the update from Microsoft is fixed.Uninstall .NET Framework 3.5 for a short time and then install the update after the restart.

Or you can press Pause updates under Windows Update (Pause for 1 week).(Thanks to Joern) After that you can manually search for updates again and KB5028949 will be installed.Since you searched for updates manually, the update lock is automatically removed again.
