Kingdom Hearts is and remains one of the biggest brands in the video game universe. In the early 2000s, a crossover series was launched that was able to establish itself on a variety of systems in the following years. Most recently, the third part was in focus, which you can also find on our website a detailed test finds.
The release of Kingdom Hearts 3 (buy now 20,64 € ) was over five years ago. Since then, classics of the series have been released on the PC and the Nintendo Switch A wish of fans and those who might still want to become fans remained unfulfilled for many years.
When was Kingdom Hearts 1 released?
In 2002, Square Enix launched the series on the PlayStation 2. But whoever thought that the crossover between Disney and Final Fantasy would have found its home on the Sony console, was mistaken. Games for the Gameboy Advance, the PlayStation Portable, the Nintendo DS and the Nintendo 3DS.
Square Enix apparently did not want to release mere spin-offs. So between parts 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, a GBA game, was released, whose storyline builds a seamless bridge between the PS2 games. Without the story of the handheld title, Kingdom Hearts 2 was therefore a lost cause.
Thanks to the new releases on PlayStation and PC, the problem of being spread across different consoles has at least been solved. However, the question remains as to which order the role-playing games should actually be played in. Square Enix now finally has an answer to that.
