Is a 200 euro pack worth it for a 30-year-old video game trilogy? Only diehard fans will splurge.

It goes without saying that the Tomb Raider saga is an institution: it revolutionized 3D adventure games in the 90s and we owe it a lot, a lot. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is a compilation including the first three games in the franchise.namely Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider II and Tomb Raider III, released in 1996, 1997 and 1998 respectively.

However, a makeover is to be declared withc retouched 3D models, completely revised lighting effects, modernized gameplay, a Photo mode and newly introduced mechanics. For example, the appearance of a life bar for bosses, trophies, you name it, there you have it (but strangely, no Platinum trophy on PlayStation for 269 trophies, take it for granted) and lots of bonus to eat.

This collection was released on February 14 on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch at a price of 29.99 euros. But beware : only in dematerialized form, which had the gift of frustrating a lot of fans of the original games, who often adored the physical versions. The situation will soon be corrected.

An anthology collector's item

It is therefore once again thanks to Limited Run Games that this affair becomes possible: the publisher, which specializes in the boxed production of originally digital games, has revealed that Tomb Raider I-III Remastered was the next on the list. A physical edition is therefore planned for PS5, PS4, Xbox and Nintendo Switch on September 24, 2024. And this, still at the price of 29.99 euros.

But that's not all : there will be a Deluxe Edition with an exclusive steelbook, an exploration map book with all the maps from the three games (for a total of 80 pages filled with fan-service), a code to download the OST, the CD of the best music as well as a box. For the record, this version does not seem to be published by Limited Run Games: whatever, we can already pre-order it for 54.99 euros on Amazon.

On the other hand, Limited Run Games will take care of the edition of the most precious versions, namely the Collector's Edition. This contains all the bonuses mentioned above, but also a replica of Lara Croft's legendary pistols, figurines, posters, premium collectible cards as well as a huge exclusive box to house everything.
