Instagram is testing Live Activity in its iPhone app

Many iOS apps have been adding Live Activity since the release of iOS 16 last year. With this feature, apps can display useful real-time information directly from the lock screen or Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro.Instagram is now using this feature to show users the download process in the background when they close the app.

Live Activities Coming to the Instagram App for iOS

As reader Fernando Moretto pointed out, the Instagram app now shows live action when you close the app while a new photo or video is uploading. This way you can be sure that the upload was successful without having to check the Instagram app again after closing it.

Of course, Instagram live action works on both the lock screen and Dynamic Island.Users can see a small preview of the content being downloaded as well as the progress of the download.

Unfortunately, it seems that this feature is available to a very small number of users at the moment.Instagram has yet to officially announce support for Live Activity, so we assume the company is testing the feature before rolling it out to everyone. To get access to the new feature as soon as possible, you need to keep the Instagram app up to date.

Earlier this year, Uber also updated its core app and Uber Eats to include Live Activity support. Many other developers are doing the same. The iPhone 15 is rumored to bring Dynamic Island to the entire lineup, which should make the feature even more popular with users.

It’s worth noting that with iPadOS 17, live action is also appearing on the iPad’s lock screen.
