But what impression did the short test phase, which was aimed exclusively at pre-orderers, leave? This is what we wanted to know from you in our Sunday survey last week.

Only a few participants are disappointed

Based on the results, players seem to be quite impressed with “Sea of Thieves”. 58 percent of participants were impressed. Another 28 percent are convinced that what was shown in the beta was okay, but would not be a major highlight. 14 percent of participants clicked the third option.

How do you rate Sea of Thieves based on the PS5 closed beta?

  • 58 percent: Great game. I am impressed.
  • 28 percent: Pretty okay. But not a big highlight either.
  • 14 percent: Bad. I'm disappointed.

While the assessment of a game is largely based on subjective impressions and players who took part in the beta have long since decided on “Sea of Thieves” due to the necessary pre-order, technical problems can be viewed more objectively.

Based on the survey, technical problems during the “Sea of Thieves” beta were generally limited.

Did you encounter any technical issues during the Sea of Thieves beta?

  • 45 percent: Occasional technical problems, but still acceptable.
  • 42 percent: Everything is fine, no technical problems.
  • 14 percent: Significant technical problems.

Can a purchase recommendation be made?

Is “Sea of Thieves” ultimately worth the amountthat Microsoft charges for the pirate adventure in the PlayStation Store? And can beta participants make a purchase recommendation? Here the result was quite clear.

In your opinion, is Sea of Thieves a purchase recommendation?

  • 67 percent: Of course, definitely buy it at launch.
  • 20 percent: Better to wait for the first price reduction.
  • 12 percent: Don't buy, no matter the price.

In fact, “Sea of Thieves” is widely pre-ordered in the PlayStation Store. The title is currently in positions 2, 3 and 10 in the PSN charts, as editions are rated individually.

Please note: While the survey results are largely in line with the successful advance sales, comparatively few readers took part (up to 1,167 people), which makes the results less representative. In addition, for technical reasons it was not possible to limit the survey to players who actually took part in the beta.
