Ikea’s 21 new products for the smart home – all with support for the Matter standard

Start of sales in early 2026

Ikea is making a huge investment in the smart home with 21 new and updated products while also wanting to make the smart home easier to use.

Now Ikea is launching its entire range for the smart home. With 21 new products, mainly in lighting, sensors and control, Ikea thus updates its entire smart home family of products.

Now all products support the universal smart home standard Matter, which makes it easier to connect and use, not only Ikea’s products, but also to integrate products from other manufacturers. For the products to work, a smart home hub is required, for example Ikea’s own Dirigera hub. Thanks to the Matter support, Dirigera can handle both Ikea and other manufacturers’ gadgets, but Ikea’s gadgets can also, thanks to the Matter support, be controlled by a hub from another manufacturer.

Ikea calls this launch of 21 products, all of which will go on sale in early 2026, a first step.

– Our goal is still the same as when we started exploring smart homes in 2012 – to make it easy to use, easy to understand and accessible to many. We start by understanding life at home, where we continuously observe, listen and learn what makes a difference in everyday life. We believe that technology should serve a purpose, not exist for its own sake, says David Granath, who is responsible for the assortment.

The updated range of products for the smart home focuses on the three categories of sensors, lighting and control.

Within sensors, we brand air quality meters, moisture meters, door and window sensors and motion sensors. For example, a motion sensor can be used so that the light turns on when someone enters your garage or storage room, or when you approach the front door. A humidity sensor can ensure you don’t have an incipient water leak, and the air quality sensor can signal the smart home and activate an air purifier.

For control there are various smart contacts and remote controls, but of course you can also use the mobile phone and various smart rules to activate and deactivate gadgets remotely and automatically depending on various rules you or the system set up. Like based on when the sun rises and sets for example.

Lighting includes a wide variety of light bulbs in several sizes, models and types.

Upgrades the product range and wants to make it easier

We at Mobil have previously reported on many of the products that are now being officially launched, but now Ikea is going out officially and presenting the entire range and the idea behind it.

– Our focus is on improving and broadening the experience of the smart home. We upgrade our most appreciated products and at the same time add new ones to solve even more everyday challenges. We want to make it easy from installation to daily use, so that it is easy for people to get started, use and develop a smart home, says Stjepan Begic, product developer at IKEA.

Ikea’s smart home hub Dirigera already supports Matter and if you use Ikea products that do not support Matter, the hub as a Matter bridge also ensures that they continue to work.
