Oh, how nice a city wall would be. If we had a high wall, we could protect our lands from wolves, bandits and other dangerous rabble.

This medieval desire for a secure wall is apparently shared not only by the GDR leadership or ex-President Donald Trump, but also by players of the brand new and extremely successful building game Manor Lords.

Only released in Early Access on Steam last Friday, the game played at its best over the weekend 170,000 medieval fans the beautiful Manor Lords.

Manor Lords: We'll show you a whole year in 4 minutes

Where there is a will, there is a way

Since, as I said, the game is still in early access (and will remain for the foreseeable future), it should be clear that not all of the planned features of the finished vision of Manor Lords are yet included in the game. An example of this are city walls.

However, the lack of this does not seem to stop players from looking for another way within the mechanics of Manor Lords in order to protect their cities from uninvited guests from outside or simply to visually enhance them with a wall.

A German YouTuber has now apparently found such a way: How One Proud Bavarian on his channel As shown, the castle planner tool in Manor Lords can apparently be used to build a wall not only around your property, but also around the entire settlement.

However, this must be well planned, because as you can see in the video, fenced houses can no longer be selected after construction. So you have to build the wall first and then place the remaining buildings – not optimal.

How does the developer react?

Apparently developer Greg Styczeń aka Slavic Magic doesn't think this is ideal either. Because the castle planner is not intended to fence in your settlement. In a Twitter statement, Styczeń wrote:

I just saw a playtest trying to cheat their way into building city walls using the castle planner tool. Please let that go. I will add a *correct* Add city wall tool. The castle planner is only intended for palaces/castles. I probably should have turned it off for now.

In short this means: Please hold off on building the wall a little longer, a real tool for this is already in the works. And before you lock your houses inside a castle wall and then no longer be able to click on them, it's better to wait for the corresponding update.

Who knows, maybe you will soon be able to build magnificent stone walls with defensive towers and gates around your city.

What do you think of Manor Lords so far? Do you already miss the city walls? Could there also be a moat? How do you currently protect your settlements? Feel free to write all of this to us in the comments!
