Here are the best-selling smartphones of 2022.

New data from Counterpoint Research today reveals just how dominant the iPhone line really is. Not only was the iPhone 13 the “best-selling smartphone” of 2022, the entire iPhone line-up was eight of the top 10 spots on the 2022 best-selling smartphones list, according to the data.

Best Selling Smartphones of 2022

Counterpoint Research reports that the iPhone 13 accounted for 28% of all iPhone sales in 20222 and 5% of total global smartphone sales in 2022. In second place is the iPhone 13 Pro Max with 2.6% of total smartphone sales. The top five is closed by the iPhone 14 Pro Max in third place, the Samsung Galaxy A13 in fourth and the iPhone 13 Pro in fifth.

Apple’s iPhone 13 was the best-selling smartphone of 2022, accounting for 28% of iPhone sales. It was the top selling smartphone in major markets such as China, USA, UK, Germany and France. In addition, the iPhone 13 has been the number one smartphone every month since its launch in September 2021 to August 2022. Price cuts since the launch of the iPhone 14 series have further boosted iPhone 13 sales in emerging markets. iPhone 13 sales were double those of the iPhone 13 Pro Max, the second best-selling smartphone in 2022.

The inclusion of the iPhone 14 Pro Max in the top five is especially noteworthy. Counterpoint Research reports that this is the first time that the “Pro Max” iPhone delivered more sales value than its “Pro” and basic counterparts:

For the first time in 2022, a variant of the iPhone Pro Max series received more sales than its Pro and base models. This helped the iPhone 14 Pro Max take third place on the 2022 list. It was the best-selling smartphone model in September, October and November 2022. iPhone 14 Pro Max sales were leading among early adopters and those who upgraded to a higher iPhone variant.
