In this new episode of “How Helldivers 2 revolutionizes game service communication”, the studio announced the success of the “Swift Disassembly” operation. This limited-time community objective required players to liberate all planets under the control of the Automatons, the enemy robot faction. With this achievement, it is now impossible to face the Automatons in-game, forcing players to head to the front against the Terminids, the insectoid race living on the other side of the galaxy. A strong decision on the part ofArrowheadwhich therefore deliberately makes a large part of its content inaccessible, leaving its community with a burning question on their lips: What's next?
You did it, Helldivers. Operation Swift Disassembly was a success! With the bots eradicated and bugs contained, the galaxy is free once more. pic.twitter.com/W7GolbDmHW

Helldivers vs Illuminated
Especially with all the players focused on the planets occupied by the Terminids, it is only a matter of time before the insects are driven out of our galaxy. It is therefore the perfect time to bring back The Illuminate, an extra-terrestrial faction supposedly eradicated in Helldivers of the first name. Obviously, the studio had already started to announce their return according to its usual strategy, namely with a clue revealed randomly to a group of players, thus letting word of mouth do its work. Some players were therefore able to hear the following message in their ship:“Super Earth lied…they didn't want you to know…the Illuminate…they're coming”. Others were hit by blue lasers coming from nowhere, a typical signature of this faction in the first opus.
Insects and robots offer very different gameplay that could basically be opposed on one point: melee combat vs. ranged combat. While we will spend our time running and shooting against the Terminids, the confrontations against the Automatons rely more on staying behind cover and at a good distance. Two rooms, two atmospheres therefore and The Illuminate having a highly technological arsenal, their arrival would make up for the absence of this subtlety of gameplay which disappeared at the same time as the Automatons.
Well beyond the storyline issues, there is a real need to maintain this choice of play styles. There are days when the prospect of spending 45 minutes running continuously with hordes of insects on your ass is not not necessarily very motivating and it is not anti-democratic to say so. So I hope I don't have to wait too long to see the aliens arrive and grace us with their laser cannons. Because if the style of play against the Automatons can be a purge when you start Helldiverse 2I find it much more pleasant on a personal level now that I have a little bottle and having to deal with insects for a while is a prospect that only moderately enchants me.
